Trying to Get Ripped: Week 21 Recap/Week 22 Beginning

by KeithSweatin Monday, July 26, 2010

My final week 21 measurements on Monday morning came out to:

Weight: 213.5 lbs
Bodyfat %: 7.5%
Chest: 43"
Waist: 34"
Bicep: 15.5"
Quad: 24.5"

*All measurements taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and unflexed muscles

I'm really starting to see some great progress in the mirror, so that's encouraging to keep me going.  My morning temperature is still in the mid to high 97s, so that's not bad indicating that my metabolism is still working efficiently.  I don't think my bodyfat is really at 7.5% but I'd say <10%, which is good.  I'm still pasty white so any definition isn't brought out.  I'm also still having more sodium/water on a daily basis so I'm puffy in that sense.

This week, I'm going to drop about another 100 calories/day for this upcoming week by taking out 25g of carbs which puts my carb rotation at:

125g > 125g > 100g (cardio) > Refeed or Cheat day > Repeat

My workouts and cardio schedule remain the same for now.  Since I'm getting down to that extra stubborn to burn fat, I'll most likely have to up my cardio or drop my carbs further for a few weeks, but that'll be discussed when the time comes.

Trying to Get Ripped: Week 20 Recap/Week 21 Beginning

by KeithSweatin Wednesday, July 21, 2010

My Saturday morning week 20 measurements before my cheat day came out to:

Weight: 211.2 lbs
Bodyfat %: 6.0%
Chest: 42"
Waist: 33"
Bicep: 15.5"
Quad: 25"

*All measurements taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and unflexed muscles

My final week 20 measurements on Monday morning came out to:

Weight: 218 lbs
Bodyfat %: 9%
Chest: 43"
Waist: 34"
Bicep: 15"
Quad: 25"

*All measurements taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and unflexed muscles

Right now I'll tell you I wasn't 6% bodyfat Saturday morning.  My digital caliper actually read 5.7%.  Ummmm, sorry to burst my own bubble, but no.  I certainly lost fat from last week, but not THAT much.  My weight went down and my bodyfat went down after INCREASING my calories, yeah you read that right.  Since I upped my carbs to 150g and my calories to about 2500, my metabolism went up and my weight went down.  I didn't do extra cardio or anything.  My temp reading came out to be about 97.5 degrees F the entire week, so that's good.  I'd still like to get it up to 98 though.

Trying to Get Ripped: Week 19 Recap/Week 20 Beginning

by KeithSweatin Monday, July 12, 2010

My Sunday morning week 19 measurements before refeed day came out to:

Weight: 213.8 lbs
Bodyfat %: 9.5%
Chest: 43"
Waist: 34"
Bicep: 15.75"
Quad: 25"

*All measurements taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and unflexed muscles

My final week 19 measurements on Monday morning came out to:

Weight: 220 lbs
Bodyfat %: 8.5%
Chest: 43"
Waist: 35"
Bicep: 16"
Quad: 25"

*All measurements taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and unflexed muscles

I didn't lose any weight this week and my bodyfat didn't go down either.  I was originally planning on cutting calories even further by another 100-200, but my metabolism has been a little slow as of late.  I know this because I've been taking my temperature right as I wake up and this is a good indication to how much heat my body is producing, thus, how efficiently I'm burning calories.

My 2 Scoops: Gaspari SizeOn Pre-Contest Review

The Supplement

SizeOn Pre-Contest by Gaspari

SizeOn from Gaspari Nutrition has been around for quite awhile as one of the few intra workout (drink while you workout) supplements on the market, but now that product category has become more popular with products from competing companies like BSN (Volumaize) and MuscleTech (IntraVol).  SizeOn has redone their original formula and it's now available as two separate products - Pre-Contest and Maximum Performance.  Pre-contest, which is the product I'm reviewing, is the low carb/trying-to-diet formula while Maximum Performance is for those looking to bulk up a bit as it contains more calories and carbs.  To sum up SizeOn, it's an amino acid product on steroids.
